A locally-based pub-style restaurant chain is gearing up to launch its third Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»location. The aptly-named - the more casual sibling to Joey restaurants - has revealed plans to open its doors in the growing River District development later this spring.
Local's River District location is being touted as a future "hot spot" in the community, with craft cocktails, 16 taps, and its "wine without rules" motto (minus those imposed by the government). Design features in the space include garage doors that will give the restaurant an "indoor/outdoor feel" and a double-height space with a mezzanine floor that can be booked for groups. To further engage with patrons, Local will show sports events on TVs on game nights.
On the menu are Local's dishes like Fried Chicken, Truffle Cheeseburger, and an Ahi Tuna Poké Bowl, among other approachable items.
Currently in its hiring stages, Local joins a number of new and forthcoming restaurants in the River District, including Sushi Mura, the recently-launched Kokoro Tokyo Mazesoba, and Bufala and Lucky Taco, which are still in the works for 2023.
Local has restaurants across four Canadian provinces and Washington state in the U.S. In Vancouver, the brand began with its Kitsilano location, followed by its takeover of the popular ex-Chill Winston space in Gastown (with its iconic front patio) in 2017.
The River District Local Public Eatery is aiming to open in late May and will be located at 8558 River District Crossing.
