It was a short run on Robson for Pizza Maru, a Korean pizza franchise that debuted back in early 2023.
The venture marked the first Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»location for the brand, which began in South Korea in 2006. The 1471 Robson St storefront was transformed into a Pizza Maru last year after owners of the previous restaurant at the address, Katsuya, took on the franchise.
Now, however, the owners are revamping the space yet again.
"We will soon be introducing a new brand," shared operators on the Instagram account in a post announcing the location's closure.
Along with standard pizza toppings like cheese, pepperoni, or all-veggies, Pizza Maru's menu includes signature items like the "Maru Five," which is a pizza loaded in striped segments with cheddar cheese, corn, beef ribs, bacon, pepperoni, mayo, chicken, potato chunks, steak sauce, and spicy sauce.
Other pizza options include the "Signature Shrimbul" made with shrimp, bulgogi (marinated Korean beef), green peppers, ranch dressing, sour cream, chopped pickles and more, as well as a "Chicken Katsu" pizza.
One of Pizza Maru's signature items is its green tea pizza dough.
Recently, a Pizza Maru opened in Burnaby at 4331 North Rd. The location is on social media as .
In its closure notice, owners of the former Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Pizza Maru franchise are encouraging people to visit the , though the brand may be sharing the address with the , as a Langley Pizza Maru doesn't appear on the company's website.
A timeline for the Robson Street restaurant space taking on a new concept has not been shared yet by operators.
