Join us for a day of delights! Kids come *FREE* to this day of music, activities and entertainment inspired by The Happy Show. Enjoy performances by ventriloquist , explore the interactive exhibition, get your face painted, and try your hand at making your own Happy buttons. Plus, enjoy grilled cheese sandwiches from the MeltCity truck, treats from Johnny Pops, refreshments from Live Happy Water, and music from CBC! .
Join us for a unique dialogue that asks, "how can we use our imagination to create the futures we want," and shares techniques for leveraging storytelling, experiential design, and the arts to solve complex challenges with social innovation. Presenters will include Erika Gregory, a theatre-trained social innovator from San Francisco; Joe Tankersley - an 'optimistic futurist' with eighteen years as a Disney Imagineer; Christophe Gouache - an industrial and strategic designer from Brussels. The dialogue will be moderated by Vanessa Timmer of One Earth, and is presented in partnership with Disruptive Imaginings, a conference bringing together these experts in the fields of arts, sustainability, and design to harness collective imaginings of compelling futures. . Entry to this special Bike to Work Week celebration is by donation. The evening will also feature a short talk by Allan Shaw, who is a competitive cyclist, photographer, and bike courier based in Vancouver, and Stephen Smysnuik, editor at thegrowler.ca will be describing the perfect bike tour of local craft breweries. .
Presented in partnership with Arts Umbrella and Capture Photography Festival, this special one-day photography workshop with instructor Katie Huisman is designed for teens wanting to take their photography to the next level. Participants are encouraged to explore composition and creativity while shooting on location in museum and outdoor settings. This course is a great opportunity for teens (ages 13-18) who want to build a photography portfolio! .
