An all-day breakfast and brunch spot that quickly won over the acclaim of locals announced this week they would not be re-opening due to the COVID-19 crisis.
, located on Rupert in Vancouver's Renfrew Heights neighbourhood, launched in March 2019.
Prior to having to shut-down in mid-March 2020 due to COVID-19, Ham & Eggman's was serving breakfast and brunch dishes daily. The globally-influenced menu at the walk-in only spot included things like loaded scrambles, Eggs Benedict, Pork Belly Hash, Chicken & Waffles, Shakshuka, and straightforward a.m. classics as well.
The restaurant shared news of their closure late Tuesday night on Instagram, in a post that showed their boarded-up storefront that had been vandalized.
Ham & Eggman's thanked their customers, suppliers, and employees, but added: "No thank you to the people who smashed our door so we boarded up [t]hen decided to rip the plywood just so they could throw another brick through the window!"
In response to a customer's plea that Ham & Eggman's re-consider their closure, the restaurant replied: "cant maintain at 1/3 capacity struggle at 100 percent
Thank all the fear in people’s eyes!" To another who said they hoped the restaurant could relocate in the near future, the restaurant replied: "Wishful thinking."
