One shop is now serving up two popular hand held foods in Vancouver.
The Brat Haus and Carnitas Don Jose are now open at 435 Abbott St, having officially opened their doors over the weekend. The double-barrelled shop offers both tacos and hot dogs, aiming to create a high-end fast-food option in Gastown.
On the hot dog side of things things are a bit more advanced than the classic wiener with mustard. For example the Daffy has chorizo sausage with chimichurri, pickled onions, peppers and avo cream. Another, the Olive, has lamb sausage with goat cheese, tzatzki, olives and cherry tomatoes.
"Our sausages are German style. They are sourced locally from a supplier located in Vancouver, fresh, from ethically raised meats, and high-quality ingredients," state the operators in a message to V.I.A.
has been active in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»for a while, specializing in carnitas, which translates from the Spanish as "little meats."
"They can be maciza and/or surtida," state the operators, describing two traditional kinds of shredded pork, lean (maciza) or surtida (fattier).
If the two savoury options aren't enough, there is also a selection of huge milkshakes dubbed "freak shakes."
The new shop will be open daily at noon. Mondays to Wednesdays they close at 10 p.m., while Thursday to Sundays they close at 11 p.m.
