When it comes to epic, crave-worthy, piled-high fried chicken sandwiches, is one of Vancouver's best bets. Now the food truck and restaurant operation is shifting its focus to a new space in the West End.
The Frying Pan will open a new brick-and-mortar location at 1101 Denman St on Saturday, September 24.
The West End address was a Fatburger for a long time before its brief run as Puro Chile in 2021.
Husband and wife duo Chef Jacob and Sunny Jung got our engines running for their Korean-inspired menu of fried chicken dishes when The Frying Pan truck got rolling back in 2017. The truck's show-stopper has always been its epic fried chicken sandwiches, including the hot version, which is a massive bite of Nashville by way of Korea, thanks to an inventive fusion of ingredients.
In December 2020, the Jungs opened The Frying Pan restaurant at 60 W Cordova St in Gastown. The last day of operations at that restaurant location will be Sunday, Sept. 18.
What to expect at the new West End location of The Frying Pan
As The Frying Pan hits the five-year milestone the celebrations are centred on the new restaurant on Denman - though the OG Frying Pan food truck will remain at the corner of Burrard and Pender.
The new restaurant is fully-licenced and will have Frying Pan favourites alongside some new dishes. That means in addition to their loaded fries and massive chicken sandos you'll now see new Korean-inspired fare like the Pa Dak Sando (chicken breast, soy sauce, house mayo, pickle, slaw, green onion, chili powder, toasted bun). The menu will also have more veggie and vegan-friendly options.
To kick things off, the new Frying Pan on Denman will have a fun promo, offering their Classic Crunch Chicken Sando (fried boneless thigh, slaw, house mayo) for just $5 each to the first 100 guests at the new location (limit of one sandwich per customer) beginning at 11 a.m. on opening day (Sept. 24).
Frying Pan’s new Denman location will be open Sundays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Frying Pan food truck will continue to serve lunch from its downtown parking spot at 505 Burrard St Wednesday to Friday from 11a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
