In the green room for our regular travel feature on Global's BC1 with Jill Krop this morning I had the pleasure of meeting the president of White Spot, Warren Erhart, as well as their head chef Chuck Currie! They were on the show talking about this B.C. institution's 85th anniversary.

Here's some fun facts I didn't know until today:

- Over the past year, 87 per cent of British Columbians who dined out visited White Spot.

- They serve more than 12 million guests each year, buying more local products than any other full service restaurant chain in B.C.: nearly 5 million pounds of potatoes, 675,000 pounds of tomatoes and 73,000 pounds of blueberries.

- They've got the highest average employee tenure of any Canadian restaurant chain.

To celebrate their milestone, from June 10th til July 14th they're bringing back a menu item called Chicken Pick'ns that helped launch White Spot from its first location on Granville. They're also serving meatloaf, bumbleberry pie and the Nat Bailey 'Adult' Shake with Bailey's and Amaretto! Net proceeds from the 85th Anniversary menu, which are available for $2 as a keepsake, support Zajac Ranch for Children. View the complete limited time offer menu .
