A popular Indian restaurant located on Vancouver's Commercial Drive is prepping its second location, and they're moving into some impressive digs.

confirmed recently with Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» that they have taken over the space at 1480 West 11th Avenue. Recognize the address? That was the former home of Vancouver's legendary superstar Indian chef Vikram Vij's eponymous restaurant starting in 1996. In 2017, it became the more casual sibling Vij's Rangoli, which moved in from next door at 1488.

This May, Vij scaled back his empire, essentially consolidating Rangoli and Vij's operations to the newer flagship Vij's on Cambie.

Meanwhile, at neighbouring 1488, the Lebanese eatery JamJar vacated this spring to make way for Mazahr Lebanese Kitchen

With Bombay Kitchen now readying to open in the former Vij's space, it looks like the neighbourhood won't be long without a local spot for an Indian feast.

Bombay's expansive menu includes a number of Indian food favourites, like pakoras, curries, tandoor oven specialties, and Korma, Rogan Josh, Vindaloo, and Masala preparations of chicken, beef, seafood, and lamb. Additionally, Bombay Kitchen & Bar has an abundance of vegan and vegetarian dishes available, as well as lots of rice dishes, fresh naan, and house-made desserts, and - as their name suggests - a bar menu.

Currently, Bombay's Commercial Drive location is accepting reservations for dine-in as well as orders for take-out. The new location is licenced for 78 seats, which makes it bigger than Bombay's original restaurant, however, it's not clear as of yet how many seats will be open at the West 11th Ave outpost under current COVID-19 restrictions.

Bombay Kitchen did not immediately provide V.I.A. with any further details about the new location but have indicated it is "coming soon." Stay tuned for more info when it's available.
