If you want to take a bite of some 'za that hasn't pleased your palate before, check out one of these seven newer places for pizza in and around Vancouver.

Sopra Sotto opened this spring on The Drive, and in addition to their terrific housemade pastas and salads made with fresh, local produce, they've got a menu of incredible pizzas.Here, the pizza dough follows the two-day method for the ultimate in lightness and chewiness, and is crisped up and deftly blistered in their wood-fired pizza oven, which you can see from the dining area.

Hand-pressed Sicilian-style dough make the perfect backdrop for this new Commercial Drive spot serving up slices loaded with all kinds of toppings. Their menu is split between vegan, veggie, and omnivore options, which means this is truly the pizza place for everyone.

Not too long ago, what had been Joe Pizza morphed into a fresh concept, the day-to-night DiBeppe. They have the Roman-style pizza "in pala" and the wow factor "al metro" which means by the metre. That's a lotta pizza! (Side note, the Joe Pizza at UBC lasted just a few months, and is now being turned into an Uncle Fatih's.)

Head to AJ's to find classic NYC pizza pies, as well as Sicilian squares. You can go for some of their classic topping combos, or build you own. They also sell pizza by the slice, but you'll have to play the odds and see what's available when you're there.

Unless you're a lucky local, you'll have to make a stop at Il Posto part of your outing to Ladner. Located right in the village, this new Italian restaurant is fresh, bright, casual, and fun, and serves up killer pizzas. Dip your slices into one of two "pizza oils" brought to your table with your order, hot out of the oven in the open kitchen.

At this just-opened sibling restaurant to the Fiore family of restaurants (including Fiore and Stable House in South Granville) you'll find sourdough pizzas made with fresh toppings.

A partner brand to the popular Pizza Garden, Coquitlam's La Ruota is opening soon in Vancouver, in Kitsilano. They make Neapolitan-style pizza, on handmade crust, with a couple dozen topping options, including several starring Italian cured meats, and lots of veggie selections, too.
