To honour Canada's veterans and their enormous sacrifices for our country, there are several Remembrance Day events and ceremonies taking place in Vancouver.
Note: the city is offering free parking now through Nov. 11 for vehicles displaying B.C. veteran licence plates. The free parking extends to City of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»parking meters, EasyPark parkades, surface lots and park board operated parking facilities, including Stanley Park, Queen Elizabeth Park and the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Aquatic Centre, as well as all Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»community centres.
Chor Leoni Men’s Choir celebrates the 100th anniversary of the World War One Armistice with a world premiere oratorio by Canadian-American Composer Zachary Wadsworth. When There Is Peace traces the ache of the war to end all wars to the moment of incandescent joy when guns fell silent, hope bloomed again, and birdsong was heard once more. Joining the choir for this world premiere event are soprano Arwen Myers, tenor Lawrence Wiliford and the renowned Borealis String Quartet.

Remembrance Day Ceremonies
Victory Square Cenotaph
The city’s largest Remembrance Day Ceremony begins at 10 a.m. with a performance by the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Bach Youth Choir and Sarabande. At 10:10 a.m. veterans, military marching units and bands will be led to Victory Square by the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Flag Party for the cenotaph ceremony starting at 10:30 a.m. Shortly afterward, there will be a combined performance by Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Fire and Rescue Services and the Regimental Pipes and Drums of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. At 11 a.m. the Last Post will be sounded. There will be two-minutes of silence, during which a 21-gun salute by the 15th Field Artillery Regiment will be heard from Portside Park. Lament and Rouse will follow. The Royal Canadian Air Force will conduct a fly-past moments later, weather permitting. In Flanders Fields will then be sung by the Bach Youth Choir and Sarabande and wreaths will be placed at the cenotaph.

Remembrance Day Ceremony at UBC
This year marks 67 years that the University of British Columbia has hosted a Remembrance Day ceremony. This special ceremony is an opportunity for faculty, staff, students and members of the on and off-campus community to honour and remember all those who served in times of war, military conflict and peace. This year, the Remembrance Day Ceremony at UBC will include short readings, remarks from special guests and musical performances by the UBC Opera Ensemble. Everyone is welcome to attend this annual ceremony — doors to the War Memorial Gym will open at 10 a.m. and the ceremony starts at 10:45 a.m. Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony and all are welcome to stay.

Robert Malcolm Memorial Pipe Band
The RMM pipe bands are comprised of youth, teens and adults between the ages of six to 65 and who receive weekly instrument instruction from members of the World Champion Simon Fraser University Pipe Band. Under the SFU Pipe Band organizational umbrella, students & players are exposed to the highest levels of world class instruction in both bagpipes and drums throughout the entire program. Call the Legion to find out what time they expect the band to arrive.
