Photos + Video: A peek at the 'Tron: Ares' film shoot on Vancouver's Cambie Bridge

The third installment of the Disney action-adventure series is using the bridge to film a "simulated vehicle accident"

A little "Hollywood North" action has been taking place on the streets of Vancouver, with a stunt scene for the upcoming .

An overnight closure of the Cambie Bridge was in place from 7 p.m. on Thursday (March 14) to 6 a.m. Friday to accommodate the production.

The filming "involves driving with vehicles, motorcycles, vehicle tow rigs, and a simulated vehicle accident," reads a notice from the production company.

Early Friday morning, a motorcycle ridden by the character Ares, in an illuminated red suit, could be seen on the bridge. 

The film started production in January in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­and is slated for release in 2025.

Tron: Ares is the third film in the Tron universe. , released in 1982, was considered groundbreaking for its use of special effects. The sequel, , took nearly 30 years to reach the silver screen. It was also shot in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­and used Cambie Bridge for at least one scene involving a motorcycle.

Jared Leto stars in the film as the title character, Ares. Last weekend, in the Ares suit filming a scene at the Bentall 5 building in Downtown Vancouver. 

Leto's co-stars include Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson.

The Tron:Ares Cambie Bridge scene will resume filming on Friday night. A closure will be in place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday. 

The closures will run from West 7th Avenue to Beatty Street.
