Songs from famous musical duos will be in the spotlight next month at a spring concert in Port Moody.
Choral Connections presents its cabaret showcase It Takes Two, an event at Heritage Woods Secondary under the direction of the school’s music teacher Ingrid Gay.
Gay and piano accompanist Vincent Lo will lead the 80-member community choir in tunes from such performers as:
- Elton John and Kiki Dee
- “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart”
- David Bowie and Freddie Mercury
- “Under Pressure”
- Ebb and Kander
- “Coffee in a Cardboard Cup”
Gay, who has been the director for 11 years, told the Tri-City News that Choral Connections wanted to give the musical pairs and double composers a nod.
“It’s their time to shine,” she said.
In addition, small ensembles within Choral Connections will also take the stage for a few sets.
Choral Connections alternates its year-end concerts between traditional choral and showcase programs.
And, as in previous years, it will wrap up its showcase with a dance in the school’s grand hall, featuring the band Double Image.
Tickets for the May 24, 2025, concert and dance at 7 p.m. are $35 for adults and $20 for children ages 12 and under. There will be door prizes, a raffle and a 50/50 draw. Refreshments will be served and non-alcoholic drinks can be purchased. Visit or the Choral Connections
