At the beginning of this year's NHL season, V.I.A. readers were pretty sure the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Canucks could make the playoffs but that was about it.
By the middle of the season, belief had suddenly jumped to hope they'd win the Presidents' Trophy or their division (they did the latter).
Now, with the playoffs underway, V.I.A., asked readers again for their thoughts on how far the hockey team could go. This time the focus was on the post-season.
And it seems fans are either pessimists or optimists.
The most popular choice was that the team would finally win the playoffs and get their names etched on the Stanley Cup, with 30 per cent of locals polled full of hope and optimism.
In second place, with just over 22 per cent of the vote, was that they'd lose it all in the first round. Given Sunday night's Game 4 win, that possibility may not come true, but as any longtime Canucks fan can attest to, it's still a possibility.
The idea that the Canucks may make it all the way to the finals and lose again was the least popular option, though it has happened three times prior.
Historically the Canucks have lost plenty of times in the first round (17 times). Of the 10 times they've made it to the second round they've only won thrice, but each time they made it all the way to the finals. While about 14 per cent of readers think the team will lose in the conference finals, that's never happened.
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» polled 1180 readers and asked the question: How do you think the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Canucks will do in the playoffs
The poll ran from 4/21/2024 to 4/27/2024. Of the 1,180 votes, we can determine that 550 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:
