The Fraser Health Authority warns the public that they may have been exposed to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) at a fitness centre in Surrey.
On its public exposures page, the regional health authority states that anyone who visited the Platinum Athletic Club located at 7635 King George Blvd on the specified dates must self-isolate for 14 days after their last visit and monitor themselves for symptoms.
The times are during operational hours on the following dates:
- Oct. 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31,
- Nov. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.
If you develop cold, influenza or COVID-19-like symptoms, please self-isolate and get tested for COVID-19.
On its Facebook Page, the Platinum Athletic Club states in a that Fraser Health notified them of 42 positive COVID-19 cases from people who visited the facility during the aforementioned time period.
"We closed voluntarily Nov. 7 onward to ensure the safety of our members and staff. We made the decision to close as soon as we learned of 10 potential exposures," read the statement.
"After many discussions with Health Authorities, it has come to our attention that some COVID positive patrons had attended the club while awaiting their test results. As a result, we must continue with closures for the meanwhile."
The club adds that it has been inspected by Fraser Health and is working with the health authority to strengthen its "COVID-19 mitigation strategies."
Fraser Health has also provided a list of recommendations and the club will remain temporarily closed until a second inspection is conducted early next week.
Fraser Health Public Exposures
If you have been in one of these locations at the times of possible exposure, it does not mean you will develop COVID-19. The possible exposures listed on this site are believed to be low risk but, out of an abundance of caution, Public Health asks anyone who may have visited any of the locations listed on the specified dates and times to monitor themselves for symptoms.
There is no known risk to anyone who attended any listed locations outside of the specified dates and times. If people remain healthy and do not develop symptoms, there is no need to self-isolate and people can continue with their usual daily activities.
If you develop any symptoms of COVID-19, please seek testing and then self-isolate. Please call ahead and wear a mask when seeking testing.
