Interior Health and the Kamloops Curling Club are notifying participants of a recent bonspiel event in the Tournament Capital after an attendee was confirmed to have COVID-19.
The Sportsman’s Curling Bonspiel, which started March 12, went ahead with 192 participants. At the time, the provincial health officer had mandated events were allowed up to 250 people. That changed to 50 after the bonspiel ended, according to an email from Rob Nordin, general manager of the Kamloops Curling Club.
In an email sent to participants of the event, Interior Health tells people they may have been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
"As a result, Interior Health is requiring that you self-isolate for 14 days from your exposure and to monitor for symptoms. If you experience any symptoms, please call 811 and or check your symptoms online at ," states the health authority in the letter. "If you need medical care for your symptoms please call ahead to alert your provider."
Anyone who does develop symptoms during their home isolation is asked to continue to self-isolate for 10 days after the symptoms appear, so long "as you are feeling well."
