I've been blogging randomly about for a while now, I've even mentioned them a couple times on my weekly radio feature that I do for The Peak 100.5 FM, and I'm happy to report that the bylaw has passed and it's now technically legal to have chickens in your backyard in the City Of Vancouver!
But raising your own family of egg laying hens is not to be taken lightly, it's a huge responsibility. There's a list of guidelines and information from the city listing some basic info as well as fine technical details of the bylaw like whether or not it's legal to have backyard chickens in your front yard (it's not!), so get acquainted with these then start buildin' yer coop and reaping the rewards of fresh eggs daily! Or head down to one of the farmer's markets where there's often now a dude who builds fancy ones like this one below.
