The newborn animals found abandoned outside a Richmond hotel have been confirmed as puppies.
Eyal Lichtmann, CEO of the Regional Animal Protection Society (RAPS), told the Richmond News on Friday that one of its vets has examined the tiny bodies and is “99 per cent certain” they are dogs.
The newborn animals were found discarded and strewn across the parkade of the Hilton Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Airport on Minoru Boulevard last Saturday.
However, they were so small that RAPS wasn’t certain until today that the animals were, in fact, puppies.
“They were only about a day old,” added Lichtmann.
“We will now give all the evidence to the BC SPCA and let its animal cruelty people take it from there.”
The hotel’s manager told Global BC last week that a member of staff made the discovery during a routine parking lot check.
The tiny creatures were apparently found strewn across the parkade, before being put into a box and taken to the RCMP.
There are suggestions the animals could have been dumped there and that animal cruelty charges could follow.
