Chris Offer posted some awesome photos from a weekend visit to the great blue heron rookery near the Tsawwassen ferry terminal to the Ladner’s Landing Facebook group.
Offer writes in the post that there are an estimated 300 nesting pairs of herons near the ferry terminal, noting they spend the winter feeding in the Fraser delta and return to breed in Tsawwassen.
“The huge bird’s — rasping, gravelly cry — is more Jurassic park than the shores of the Salish Sea. An incredible sight,” Offer wrote.
