A couple weeks back I shared of the recent handiwork of a rogue beaver in the Olympic Village. He's building a lodge and ever since I caught wind of it I've been creeping on him trying to get a photo but he's proven to be too elusive for my lens. I was there the day after he found a hockey stick and added it to the pile, and the day after he stole a rake from the Park Board and stacked it on top, but I never seem to catch him when he's around. I had begun to think that maybe they'd taken him away, as they should have already. It would be best if this guy wasn't living in the waters of the wetlands here because it all comes in from the storm drains in the neighbourhood - all of the runoff from the roads is somewhat toxic (think of that stuff in parking spots) and this area was actually designed to have the plant life leech the toxins from the water before it gets pumped into the ocean. While the area looks nice and it makes for a relaxing environment to stroll around it's certainly not fit for wild animals to be living in.
Buy anyway... today my friend and neighbour Nathan Friesen sent me this photo below that he captured of the OV Beav swimming calmly with a stick in his mouth! He is alive and well and still living in our neighbourhood. Get down there and spot him and his handiwork before they capture him and put him back where he belongs!
