A Richmond family has set up a crowd-funding page to help with vet bills, after their cat was shot by what appears to be airgun pellets.
The Buckinghams found their cat, Mittens, in their Terra Nova home last Thursday with his face covered in blood.
They rushed him to a south 鶹ýӳvet, believing he had gotten into a fight or had been attacked by a raccoon.
But they were shocked when the X-rays showed several pellets lodged in his nose and neck.
“Our sweet cat mittens got shot in the face by a pellet gun last night by one of our neighbours,” said Julia Buckingham on the GoFundMe page.
“He needed to be rushed to the vet, I didn't think he was going to make it holding him in my arms...but he is a strong boy and he is doing well at the vets now.
“We have a lot of members to our family and not a lot of money or support for these kinds of vet bills. I'm asking for some financial help at this point to help save Mittens’ life. We love our boy and can't imagine a life without him.”
Almost $2,000 of the $2,500 target was raised by Tuesday morning and Buckingham posted yesterday that “Mittens is around to live another day with our family.
“Once we come up with the money, Mittens will be getting his surgery. I wanted to let everyone know he is doing well and is eating lots of food on this Thanksgiving Day. I just wanted to thank you all personally. You're all lovely people who are donating and it means the world to our big family.”
