Mystic the cat needs special care after being shot five times with BBs that are now lodged in his body, says the BC SPCA’s Nanaimo & District Branch.
There is an active cruelty investigation into the case, the branch said.
X-rays have shown that the four-year-old cat has pellets lodged in his abdomen, front right leg and near his ribs, and has two near his spine. The bones in his upper left hind leg have been broken into pieces.
“Mystic is a shy guy who has been through a traumatic experience that has caused him a bit of anxiety,” said branch manager Leon Davis. “With surgery and continued healing, hopefully he will relieved from his discomfort and be able to feel like a calm, happy cat again.”
Medical bills and associated care will reach $1,674, and Mystic will need at least four weeks of healing before being put up for adoption.
