- Current MLA: Spencer Chandra Herbert, (NDP | 2008)
- Candidates:
- BC NDP: Spencer Chandra Herbert
- Independent: Cari Turnbull
- Green: Eoin O’Dwyer
- Conservative: Jon Ellacott
- Description:
- While BC Liberal firebrand Lorne Mayencourt was strong enough to defy the trends in 2005 that saw many of his colleagues lose their “one-term rentals”, the predecessor riding of Vancouver-Burrard flipped to NDP candidate Spencer Chandra Herbert in a 2008 by-election and has stayed orange ever since.
- The NDP does the best in Davie Village, blowing the doors off with north of 70% of the vote. Meanwhile, the BC Liberals have usually fared best in Coal Harbour, which they only narrowly lost in the NDP’s 2020 landslide. The riding is a mix of old and young, most of whom rent. In particular, it features the province’s largest Latin American community.
- Watch for who comes second in this riding - the Greens managing to clamber onto second could signal some potential in the seat once Herbert retires. In a sign of the times, the Conservatives are even running the BC Liberals’ 2020 candidate under their banner.
- Election 2020 Results (with 2024 boundaries):
- BC NDP – 62%
- BC Liberals – 20%
- BC Greens – 16%
