Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»weather: Temperatures 6 C above seasonal averages expected

It's time for sunglasses and sunscreen.

The seven-day Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»weather forecast includes several days with sunshine and above-average highs.

On Friday, June 7, V.I.A.'s Downtown Centre Weatherhood station shows a high of 24 C and a low of 12 C with mostly clear skies and sunshine during the day (see slide two).

The warm temperatures are expected to persist through the weekend. Saturday's forecast includes a high of 25 C and a low of 15 C while Sunday is expected to see a high of 23 C and a low of 16 C.

The weekend's temperatures are several degrees above seasonal averages, with the Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»area averaging highs around 18.4 C and lows of 10.5 C, according to Environment Canada's historical climate data.

Heading into next week, Monday's forecast is a slightly cooler high of 20 C and a low of 16 C, while Tuesday may see similar temperatures and a 44 per cent chance of modest precipitation.

The wet weather is expected to continue through Wednesday, with up to 3 mm of rain included in the forecast.

Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»weather forecast includes a warm summer and a "wetter" June

Environment Canada expects nearly all of Canada will see temperatures a bit warmer than average over the summer except for Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Island.

But June's forecast includes wetter-than-average conditions.

Environment Canada meteorologist Chris Doyle told V.I.A. in a previous interview that the weather models show a "strong" signal for above-average precipitation this month.
