Starting on Thursday, July 6, Environment Canada calls for hot temperatures, with a high of 26 C expected on the coast and a high of 31 C inland. With humidity, these toasty daily highs will feel more like 31 C and 36 C, respectively.
Thursday night's forecast includes partly cloudy periods that are expected to carry into Friday. But the slight cloud coverage won't keep temperatures cool on the final day of the working week. The national weather forecaster calls for more hot weather, with a coastal high of 24 C and an inland high of 29 C. With humidity, these temperatures will feel more like 29 C and 32 C, respectively.
Friday night may see a somewhat wet reprieve from bone-dry conditions in Metro Vancouver, with a 30 per cent chance of showers included in the forecast.
On the weekend, however, hot and dry weather is expected to pick up again, with bright sunshine and a high of 23 C on the coast and 29 C inland. Similar conditions are expected Sunday, while Monday is expected to see a mix of sun and cloud during the day.
Some heavier cloud coverage is expected to roll in on Monday night, dropping temperatures down slightly heading into Tuesday. Overcast skies are expected to persist through Thursday and clear somewhat Wednesday.
