The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»weather forecast includes a rainstorm and cold temperatures with lows dropping to freezing starting on Nov. 20, 2023.

The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»weather forecast includes plenty of sunshine and clear skies this week -- but locals will have to contend with one fairly wet night.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Derek Lee said Monday, Nov. 20 will start off with a mix of sun and cloud but the overnight forecast includes increasing cloudiness, which will set the stage for some wet weather on Tuesday.

Starting sometime around rush hour on Tuesday afternoon, rain should start falling across the Lower Mainland. It isn't expected to be a "super strong" rainstorm but continuous rain will fall through the evening and overnight, he told V.I.A.

"Rainfall totals of 10 to 20 mm are expected," he noted.

Once the skies clear, temperatures are expected to drop down a couple of degrees below seasonal averages for the remainder of the week.

While an Arctic front isn't expected to make its way into the region, cold air from the Yukon will bring temperatures down, particularly overnight, noted Lee.

"Right now we are looking at temperatures two degrees below average. We'll see mainly sunny skies during the day and then especially cool at night with no cloud coverage -- the clouds keep the heat in," he explained.

There is also the possibility of frost following Tuesday's rain event since temperatures will fall several degrees overnight.

Lee says Friday "should be the coldest night," with the overnight low dipping down to freezing zero.

The frigid, dry conditions are expected to continue through the weekend but there is another possibility for wet weather at the start of next week.

V.I.A.'s Granville Island Weatherhood station shows a double-digit high of 10 C to kick off the week, followed by an overnight low of 5 C. Tuesday is expected to see similar temperatures, although there will be plenty of rainfall during the later part of the day and through the night; there is a 99 per cent chance that the neighbourhood will see wet weather.

Wednesday's forecast includes the possibility of a thunderstorm to kick off the day along with some wet weather. Temperatures are expected to drop down to 3 C overnight.

Thursday is expected to usher in frigid temperatures, with the low dropping to freezing overnight. This trend is expected to continue for a few days.
