The Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­weather forecast includes a shift to sunshine starting in early February 2024.

Following a parade of storms and record-breaking warmth, the Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­weather forecast includes a sunny weekend with temperatures dropping down several degrees for the start of February.

Light rain is expected to fall across the Lower Mainland starting on Tuesday night (Jan. 30) but temperatures aren't expected to drop below 11 C overnight, according to V.I.A.'s Downtown Centre Weatherhood station in Vancouver. 

Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­broke temperature records on Monday, with some places seeing temperatures well above 10 C. The average daytime high for this time of year is 7 C and the low is 1 C, according to Environment Canada's historical climate data. 

Wednesday's forecast includes more above-average temperatures, with the daytime high expected to reach 12 C. However, it is also expected to be wet, with as much as 23 mm of rain expected in the region. 

Thursday's forecast includes similar temperatures but the rain is expected to ease, while Friday is expected to be slightly cooler and see minimal precipitation. 

Locals should see some sunshine on the weekend. Saturday's forecast includes a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 8 C and a low of 4 C. There are a couple of more opportunities to see the sun on Sunday and Monday.

While the rain is expected to ease in the coming days, many places on the South Coast have been issued flood warnings or put on flood watch.

Check with the  for travel on the South Coast including Howe Sound, Sunshine Coast, Sea to Sky and the North Shore Mountains, as well as the Fraser Valley tributaries from Port Coquitlam to Harrison.

Travellers who are headed into the mountains or on trips to the Interior or other parts of the province should  and monitor alerts.
