The high winds are expected to lash Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Island, the Central Coast, the Sunshine Coast and the Southern Gulf Islands.
Environment Canada warns the strong gusts may cause damage, with Southeast winds expected to rise to 70-90 km/h, gusting to 110 km/h as an intense front crosses the central coast and northern Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Island today.
The weather agency says the winds will subside late this afternoon in the wake of the front.
As a result a number of B.C Ferries sailings have been cancelled, including Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo, Comox to Powell River and Crofton to Salt Spring Island. Find a full list of cancellations .
The weather agency advises people to continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued.
