Rain in this week's forecast could wash away Vancouver's smoky skies

Environment Canada says there's a 30% chance of showers Thursday evening, with increasing likelihood for rain to come over the weekend. Local Meteorologist Russ Lacate also that "fresher air" was due to return Thursday through Saturday thanks to showers.

While that's sure to put a damper on summery plans for this last weekend in August, it could be a gift from the skies for firefighters in the region, as well as a clearing force in our smoky skies.

Currently Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­is under an  due to the proliferation of wildfire smoke from the hundreds of burn spots across the province.

Monday, we had "the worst air quality on the PLANET" in B.C. due to the smoke. They're also calling for possible rain later this week and into the weekend.

Although we do love to complain about rain here in Raincouver, and our warm summer weekends are almost done, the rain could prove a most welcome return to our weather, all things considered.
