Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­community group working to stop spread of anti-Asian racism (VIDEO)

One local association has started a Neighbourhood Watch pilot program.

As reports of anti-Asian racism continue to dominate headlines, local community advocates are speaking out.

Vancouver's Chinese community is still reeling from last week's Atlanta shooting tragedy that left eight people dead, six of whom were Asian women.

president Fred Kwok says, "It's getting serious. There's a pattern to this kind of attack; this is not random." He adds law enforcement struggle with individual incidents because perpetrators usually flee before they can be caught.

Kwok's association has started a Neighbourhood Watch pilot program and will soon be working with the city on ways of implementing it.

His message is simple: "The only thing we can do is look out for each other."

The is holding a 'Stop Asian Hate' rally on March 28th between 2:00-3:00 pm at the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Art Gallery's North Plaza.
