There's a certain amount of irony in the fact that Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Film School graduate, Andrew C, has spent his entire life savings helping to fund his upcoming web series called , premiering on Youtube this coming Monday. As a first-time director, his 8-part series finds a group of Asian North American twentysomethings trying to get rick quick, "mining their life ambitions, while confronting the obstacles that come with love, sex, drugs, and greed". Promising a searing look into our wealth-obsessed society, the series answers the question "How far will these friends go?" as they set out to become millionaires before they turn 30. The irony lies in the fact that Andrew's main hope for the series is that as many people watch it as possible (for FREE); he doesn't hope to make any money from it.
I asked him if the storyline of this series might mirror his own in some ways, and his response was that "Much like the characters in the series I did reach a personal epiphany to take control of my life and try to make something of myself." A few years ago, while he was was struggling with what he wanted to do with his life, facing the financial pressures of being an adult and seeing his friends and peers settling into their lives and careers around him, he decided to go after a dream and entered film school. "While I personally pursued my passions in film, the characters in the series took a slightly darker turn by abandoning their passions after experiencing the pressures of adult responsibility so they end up chasing something I think most of us fall for, and that's money."
