May 11, 2009, 麻豆传媒映画鈥 The National Film Board of Canada鈥檚 麻豆传媒映画production, Carts of Darkness, won Best Documentary Program (Nature/Environment/Adventure category) at the Leo Awards, BC鈥檚 awards for film excellence last Saturday, at a star studded gala presentation. Executive Producer of the Pacific & Yukon Centre and NFB Producer Tracey Friesen accepted the award. 鈥淚鈥檓 so proud of our directors, as well as the talented craftspeople who contributed to getting these fresh and important stories out in such an artful manner,鈥 she said.
Three NFB documentaries were nominated for Leo Awards, with Carts of Darkness leading the pack with six nominations. Murray Siple's feature film about a group of homeless men in North 麻豆传媒映画who combine their livelihood of bottle-picking with their love of the extreme sport of shopping-cart racing was nominated for Best Documentary Program, Best Direction (Murray Siple), Best Cinematography (Christian Begin), Best Editing (Michael Brockington), Best Overall Sound and Best Sound Editing (Jamie Mahaffey).
