A Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Island child is being praised for his kind and selfless act on Halloween night.
Jackson Gillespie bought one box of candy to give out at his Gordon Head home on Halloween night and thought it would be more than enough for the neighbourhood kids.
“We were starting to get low on candy... These kids came to the door and we only had three pieces left and there were five of them so we [felt] really bad,” says Gillespie.
They quickly scrambled around the house, trying to find candy or chocolates.
When they came back to the door, the unexpected happened. One of the boys, about 10 years old, decided to dump his Halloween haul into the trick-or-treat bowl so other kids could have candy. His friends followed suit and the bowl was filled "to the brim."
"I kept saying, 'No, no, no, don’t worry about it, it’s fine.' We were going to go to the gas station and get some chocolate bars or something but he was very excited about filling up our bowl,” Gillespie tells Glacier Media.
After posting the happy Halloween story to Reddit, he’s hoping to find the kind kid.
“I kinda hope that maybe someone would know this kid and see it and give him a pat on the back for it because it is important to reward people for that sort of behaviour,” he says.
According to Gillespie, the child had on a Marvel-like mask with glowing lines.
"I would probably say keep doing what you’re doing and give back as much as possible because you don’t see that very often today,” he says.
If he can’t find the child to pass along the message, it still made their Halloween night.
"It was really nice to have that happen and everyone in our house was quite touched by it.”
