Tofino's rugged central Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Island coastline is already a major draw for visitors from the Mainland and beyond, but now one popular resort in the vacation destination town has upped the game with a luxurious new offering.
Tofino Resort + Marina is now offering a unique meld of wellness and wildness via its new wood-fired floating sauna.
“We wanted to create an opportunity to bring the feeling of remoteness within reach for our guests,” says Christopher Fehr, general manager of Tofino Resort + Marina. “With the support and partnership of the Indigenous community, we found the perfect spot to anchor this incredible wellness offering, opening up our wild backyard to those who seek it.”
Tap into the serenity and beauty of Clayoquot Sound and soak in all the sights and sounds of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, like black bears on the shoreline catching their next meal or sea lions frolicking in the water.
The floating sauna will run all year long, including during storm-watching season, which is a massive draw for tourism during the more blustery months.
Trips on the floating sauna run for six hours, giving guests plenty of time to unwind and look out the cedar sauna's floor-to-ceiling windows, take a dip into the Pacific, chill out in built-in hammocks, or go out for a paddleboard jaunt.
Tofino Resort + Marina's floating sauna is for four guests for $800 plus tax.
To bring a little bit of the journey back with you, add on $49 per person and retrieve crab or prawn traps on the way back to the dock. Tofino Resort + Marina offers the town's only restaurant-led "Cook Your Catch" option through its acclaimed 1909 Kitchen, and your fresh-from-the-water meal includes sauces and side dishes.
