YVR Airport in Vancouver, B.C. has a tool called the YVR Timeline that helps travellers get to their gates so they don't miss a flight.

Travellers concerned about missing flights from Vancouver have a handy tool they can use to determine their risk.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»International Airport (YVR) introduced the YVR Timeline in August 2023, a digital tool that shows air travellers whether they are at risk of missing their flight.

Passengers can scan a digital QR code and insert their flight number to find out how to get to their gate on time.

The system identifies whether they are at risk of missing a flight and instructs them to see one of YVR's Guest Experience representatives who can assist them in getting to their gate.

Signs displaying the QR code and instructions for use are located throughout security screening lanes at the airport.

Another digital tool available at YVR is the Passenger Journey tool, which outlines step-by-step guides to navigate the airport.

What else can I do to prevent missing my flight from Vancouver?

YVR encourages all air travellers to arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before U.S. and international ones.

Travellers should also check in with their airline before heading to the airport. This will speed up the process of checking in once they arrive.

The YVR Express booking system allows travellers to reserve a spot in security screening up to 72 hours before a flight, even during peak holiday hours. The tool is available for those flying within Canada, the U.S., or select destinations across the globe.

How can I save time returning to Vancouver or making a connection coming home?

Travellers returning to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»can save time by completing their customs declaration early in the ArriveCan app.

Using the ArriveCan app cuts a traveller's time at a kiosk or eGate by up to 50 per cent, according to CBSA data.

The pandemic-introduced app is also useful for travellers who need to make a tight connection in another Canadian city on the way to Vancouver. For example, if your first stop is at Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport (YYZ), you must go through customs in Toronto before flying to YVR.

Filling out your information in the app in advance will allow you to move through a priority lane.
