Locals looking to fly to numerous cities across North America can take advantage of reduced base fares as part of a massive travel sale.
While Swoop offered savings on all of its domestic routes as part of its Flyday sale last week, the airline discounts on all of its routes for a couple of days as part of its this week.
As part of the sale, locals will receive 60 per cent off base fares on all domestic flights and 40 per cent off base fares on U.S. routes for travel between Feb. 1 and June 28. Travellers can also receive 30 per cent off base fares for all Mexico and Caribbean routes.
Tickets must be booked by Wednesday (Jan. 11) at 10:59 p.m. or until tickets sell out. To take advantage of the offer, enter the promotion code TRAVEL at checkout.
For example, a one-way flight from Abbotsford (YXX) to Toronto (YYZ) regularly costs as little as $48.99 for the lowest fare class on multiple dates in March. With the promotion, however, travellers can take 60 per cent off the base fare. The base fare for the flight is $35.59, which means that $21.35 can be subtracted from the total. The final cost of the ticket works out to $27.64 including all taxes and fees.
Locals can enjoy cheap flights to several other Canadian cities at a steal as part of the sale, including Edmonton for as low as $15 and reduced airfare to Winnipeg and Hamilton.
There are no U.S. routes out of Abbotsford, but travellers may fly out of other Canadian cities to destinations such as Fort Lauderdale and Las Vegas.
For sun destinations, locals can fly directly from the Lower Mainland to Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta but they should consider the travel advisory before booking flights to Mazatlán in the near future.
Mazatlán travel advisory update for Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»flights
Locals who were headed to Mexico should heed Canada's travel advice amid ongoing widespread violence in the Sinaloa state.
Canadian tourists in Mazatlan remained barricaded in their hotel Friday amid violence in the streets. The Culiacán and Mazatlán airports were temporarily closed after at least two passenger airplanes were hit by gunfire.
Travellers should continue to check their flight status with their airline before heading to the airport.
There is a bus that travels from Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»to the YXX airport. A one-way transfer costs about $46.82 and there are several departures throughout the day.
