Hong Kong has officially lifted all of its mandatory PCR coronavirus testing requirements for inbound travellers.

The government announced Wednesday, Dec. 28 that it will no longer require arriving travellers to Hong Kong to conduct the tests, effective Thursday, Dec. 29. It is also lifting the Vaccine Pass which allowed access to specified premises.

Now, inbound travellers are required to present negative results from PCR tests conducted within 48 hours or rapid antigen tests (RAT) within 24 hours before their flights to Hong Kong.

The government continues to advise all inbound persons to conduct daily rapid tests using self-arranged RAT kits until the fifth day after arrival in Hong Kong.

“The new measures mark a key milestone for tourism revival and the full reopening of the tourism doors of Hong Kong," said Dr. Pang Yiu-kai, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB).

"Visitors can now fully enjoy Hong Kong’s diverse offerings once they arrive in town. We believe this will attract visitors to Hong Kong from around the world. Taking into account the pace of outbound travel resumption in different visitor source markets, HKTB will gradually step up its promotions worldwide to uphold Hong Kong’s status as a world-class travel destination.”

In the last few years, the sprawling metropolis has added or revamped numerous attractions, world-class museums, and hotels that offer more attractive options for tourists. However, returning travellers may continue to enjoy their all-time favourites, including its diverse gastronomic options and expansive trails to viewpoints that provide breathtaking, 360-degree views.

Travellers from Hong Kong to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»or from China will not undergo additional testing, the Public Health Agency of Canada said Wednesday.
