Our goal is simple: we let people know about all of the awesome things that make their Canadian cities great, despite the bad. I'm the founder of this network and each week in this What's Awesome post I bring you the top stories from each of our properties, giving you access to the best of our content all in one place.

As the gorgeous opening notes of Also Sprach Zarathustra swelled through the organ, bassoons, and basses at the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra’s Rush Hour concert performance of Music from 2001: A Space Odyssey, I closed my eyes and imagined the scene from Kubrick’s film – the sun, earth, and moon aligning as the opening C transforms into intervals and the brass section joins in.

 

We all have issue with some aspect of our city – from access to walkability. Protesting is getting us nowhere and it is now time to propose. This Saturday June 7th, citizens across the Greater Toronto Area will be taking to the streets, the parks, the TTC, the walls, the fences, and their own front yards for  to propose fun, community-first urban interventions.

Sole Food Farms has a dream to double Vancouver’s local food production AND make organic food more affordable! Sole Food has just announced that they’ll be extending their campaign until July 1st.  They’ll also be giving away $100 gift certificate to  restaurant (you know, the one everyone’s raving about) to the person who refers the most traffic to their campaign page. If you, too, think all this sounds like a great idea, .
