I'm the founder of this network and each week in this What's Awesome post I bring you the top stories from each of our properties, giving you access to the best of our content all in one place.

Beakerhead, Calgary鈥檚 new and only arts and science festival, is kicking off the 2014 edition early. They commissioned artist听听to create a special graffiti mural which you can see for yourselves in the underpasses on 4th Street and 14th Street along 9th Ave in the Southwest. The result is a collection of cool, wonderfully weird creatures.

The finalists for the 2014 Trillium Book award have been announced.听The annual award is rewarded for excellence in literature听to Ontario-based writers. The event also increases awareness of the diversity and quality of writers from Ontario. Winners receive $20,000 and their publishers win $2500 to promote the winning title. All of the finalists will receive $500.
