Two popular Canadian rail-tour companies have been ranked among the best trains in the world.
For its 34th annual , Condé Nast Traveler asked readers to weigh in on their favourite trains in the world and two Canadian ones were included in the top 15.
A Japanese deluxe sleeping car excursion train took the top honour. Seven Stars, operated by Kyushu Railway, offers elegant designs that the company says, "boasts an exquisite blend of traditions – Japanese and Western." The Lounge Car also offers a bar counter along with sofas and swivel chairs where passengers can relax and enjoy live piano performances.
a luxury Canadian tour operator that offers scenic train rides across North America, placed second overall. The company is best known for offering awe-inspiring journeys through the Rocky Mountains. In addition to spectacular scenery, the five-star onboard experience includes daily meal and evening turn-down service as well as attended staff that have a detailed knowledge of all the areas the train moves through.
