In my Ěý˛ą˛ú´ÇłÜłŮĚý I shared with you the type of traveler that I am: the “Adven-tourist”. I’m one of four types that the Scotiabank Gold American Express card is designed for, and we’re encouraging you to determine your type. By doing so, you’re automatically entered to win $20,000 to spend on whatever sort of dream vacation you wish to embark on.
In my  I shared the absolute best trip I’ve ever been on (it was a doozy), and in this third and final post I’m sharing the trip that I haven’t yet been on - the trip of my dreams. One that’d allow me to spend time taking in a great many of our province’s towns and cities, exploring almost all of our “Super Neighbours” in an epic “Super, Neighbours” series which I’d share with you here on the blog.
If I were to win $20,000 to spend on travel, I’d drive my wife and son all around British Columbia for an entire month in the summer. We’d stay for a couple of nights in the best hotels and resorts in almost every major city in the province, doing a big loop. Starting in Â鶹´«Ă˝Ół»we’d head up to Harrison Hot Springs, then back to the Number 1 and on to Hope. We’d head up the Coquihalla and spend some time in the Okanagan region; Kelowna, then Vernon, then Kamloops, then make our way North. We’d make a point of exploring 100 Mile House, near where my mother was born, then maybe stop at Williams Lake and see if there are any fish in there.
We’d then jump up to my favourite historical town in BC: Barkerville! The home of Billy Barker and many stories of the gold rush. After staking our claim we’d get back onto Highway 97 and visit Prince George, before hanging a sharp left and heading back towards the coast. Burns Lake, Vanderhood and Smithers would all be visited before reaching the coastal town of Prince Rupert. From there we’d hop onto a BC Ferries vessel which would take us on an overnight trip down to Â鶹´«Ă˝Ół»Island where we’d explore the West side before making our way back to the East. Back East, we’d board another ferry to Bodega Ridge Resort on Galiano Island, where we’d spend a week decompressing from all the driving we’d done.
THAT would be the way I’d spend a $20,000 prize as an Adven-Tourist. And, if there was any money left over in the budget, I’d open a new savings account in my 5-year-old son’s name labelled “TRAVEL FUND.” I would encourage him to put a little of his own money into it each year, until he reached the age of 18 and used it to take his own trip of a lifetime, wherever he’d see fit. While I have no doubt he’d love the trip I’ve outlined here, I’d love to be able to provide him with a trip in the future that he planned on his own. Who knows, maybe he’d even take me with him?
So, this is my trip, my crazy $20K adventure. What’s yours? Time to go find out. Visit  to learn more, to determine your travel personality, and to enter to win $20,000 to spend on the vacation of a lifetime.
