The Canadian Border Services Agency warns that travellers may not be able to complete their ArriveCAN submission as a result of the outage on July 8, 2022.

Travellers leaving or entering Canada may face several issues due to the Canada-wide network outage at Rogers Communications Inc.

A notice on the Toronto-based telecommunications company's website said the outage on Friday (July 8) was impacting both its wireless and home service customers and is also affecting phone and chat support.

The company offered no explanation for the outage, its expected length and how many customers were impacted or their whereabouts.

The Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) warns that travellers may not be able to complete their mandatory ArriveCAN submission as a result of the outage.

Additionally, BC Ferries says customers may have difficulty using debit card services at a number of terminals as well as on board vessels. It originally said credit card services were affected, but later said credit cards are being processed normally.

Rogers outage: What to know at YVR

Travellers visiting Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»International Airport (YVR) may experience trouble with phone services and payment methods, in addition to ongoing issues with wait times.

"YVR is working with passengers and our airport partners through this outage. Safety and security are our top priority. Operations, including flight departures and arrivals, are normal at this time," reads the advisory.

Similar to BC Ferries, the airport stated that point-of-sale systems, including those at retail and food and beverage vendors, may experience issues. This may also happen in terminals and when paying for parking.

What to know about your ArriveCAN app submission

If impacted travellers cannot process their mandatory ArriveCAN submission, they are required to submit their information using the Traveller Contact Information Form. This form must be completed prior to arrival at the border if unable to submit via ArriveCAN.

Paper copies of your proof of vaccination and government-issued documents are required. Have a look at the CBSA's form .

Travellers who are not affected by the current outage should continue to submit their mandatory information via the ArrivCAN application.
