North America's largest seaplane airline has announced a new service to the Squamish community.
With the construction of a new dock on the east side of the new Oceanfront Squamish development, Harbour Air will serve the community with pick-up and drop-off services when connecting to a seaplane flight.
“Having a safe, protected and dedicated seaplane dock to service the Squamish community has been a goal of the company for many years," said Harbour Air CEO and Squamish resident, Greg McDougall.
“Squamish is a community that is thriving but struggles with limited access due to frequent highway interruptions. We believe that having a travel option for locals, businesses and visitors will help Squamish continue to prosper.”
With over 40 aircraft on the coast, the carrier will begin by offering on-demand flight service. Passengers can then connect on flights across its network, such as Victoria, Powell River, Seattle, Tofino, and Kelowna.
Cheap flights from Vancouver
Harbour Air says it also hopes to introduce a year-round connection to Whistler via Squamish. Additionally, it hopes to schedule regular flights between its Downtown Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»location in Coal Harbour and Squamish once construction of the oceanfront Squamish development is complete.
Harbour Air resumed daily service between Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and Seattle on May 16 with promotional rates starting at $249 CAD. The route offers an inexpensive and convenient alternative for travellers looking to fly out of the downtown core.
