"Especially in an expensive city like Vancouver, you could almost save money by leaving and spending a month in SE Asia for about $1,000 for the entire month,"

A Canadian travel startup has released its list of the 20 cheapest destinations from around the world where you can travel for under $30 CAD per day.

Co-founded by budget-travel experts Andrew D’Amours and Kevin Gagnon, Flytrippers is an  that publishes flight deals as well as travel tips and vacation inspiration. The founders argue that they have visited more than 25 countries each in 2019, "for a fraction of what most people think traveling costs."

D'amours told Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» in an email that the company has compiled a list of 40 countries where budget-travelers can easily get by with just US$25 / C$30 a day. From there, they've chosen the 20 best destinations based on, "our subjective opinion about which offer the best experience for that low budget, on the data on which destinations are trending for 2020, and ensuring we had a few countries from each continent for variety of tastes."

D'amours remarks that it 'honestly sickens' him that people believe travel has to be expensive and who don't enjoy amazing travel experiences and new cultures as a result.

"Most people travel within North America, to the Caribbean or Western Europe and then wonder why it's so expensive," writes D'amours. "My point, and what I hope this graph can help people understand, is that if you really want to travel on a low budget it's actually quite easy if you make decisions that align with your goal (that's the former management consultant in me, maybe) which means first and foremost choosing cheap destinations! It's the easiest way to travel for less."

"Especially in an expensive city like Vancouver, you could almost save money by leaving and spending a month in SE Asia for about $1,000 for the entire month," he adds.

D'amour notes that a daily budget for each of the 20 destinations includes roughly $10-$15 for lodging (in hostels if you're traveling solo, or in private rooms if you have a travel buddy), and that local food is usually extremely cheap, as are many activities.
