While it might seem unbelievable, a new flight deal will allow you to travel across Canada for less than a pair of jeans in 2020.
As part of its The Loonie Sweat Sale, Swoop, WestJet's discount carrier, is offering 100,000 tickets for a loonie base fare. Of course, you won't actually be able to fly anywhere for a buck - but you will be able to take advantage of some astonishingly low fares.
For example, travelers looking to fly from Abbotsford to Winnipeg, Hamilton, Edmonton or London, Ontario may enjoy one-way fares of $12 CAD including all taxes and fees. For Las Vegas, travelers can expect to pay $63 CAD for a one-way fare.
The sale applies to travel between Feb. 4, 2020 and October 24, 2020, but Blackout Dates include: Feb. 13 – 23, 2020 ; March 13 – April 6, 2020 ; April 9 – 14, 2020 ; May 14 – 19, 2020 ; June 25 – Sept. 08, 2020 ; October 8 – 14, 2020.
In order to take advantage of the sale, travelers must book before Jan. 21 at midnight.
Flying Swoop: What to know before you go
Since Swoop flies out of Abbotsford, Vancouverites have to make a trip into the Fraser Valley in order to catch their flights. As a result, many locals skip the low-cost option because they don’t want to spend the extra time or money getting to the airport.
For those who are looking to save, but don’t want to spend big bucks on a cab or leaving their car at the airport, there is an alternative: Reliable Bus. Find out more information about the cost-effective transit option .
Note: While the low-cost carrier is an extremely affordable alternative, it is worthwhile to note that there are a number of additional costs. For one, luggage will cost extra, as will selecting your own seat or even speaking to an operator. As such, it is worthwhile to factor in what you need to bring, or if you want to sit in a particular spot.
