A new low-cost carrier will offer Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»residents options for cheap flights across Canada starting this spring.
While there are already a couple of popular discount options on the market, numerous Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»residents have expressed frustration with their policies and cancellations — and that was pre-pandemic.
Canada's two largest airlines have also cancelled and delayed flights in the wake of surging cases of COVID-19 spurred by the Omicron variant, but air passengers were also frustrated by the lack of flexibility provided by discount airlines.
If you've given up on any of the ones on the market, a new airline is in town (or Canada, actually): Lynx Airlines.
With flights departing from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»International Airport commencing this April, the new low-cost option promises to revitalize the affordable travel landscape. To start, Lynx will connect Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»with a few key cities: Toronto, Kelowna, Calgary, and Winnipeg.
The lowest fare for a one-way ticket departing Vancouver to Toronto is $69 CAD including all taxes in fees this spring. However, there are several dates available at this price. Flights from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»to Winnipeg also start at $69 CAD including all taxes and fees.
Other low-cost options with Lynx include Kelowna and Calgary, which you can fly to from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»for as little as $49 CAD including all taxes and fees.
Lynx Air to offer discount flights out of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»International Airport
The airline's inaugural flight will depart on Apr. 7 from Calgary to Vancouver. Throughout the rest of April, Lynx's network will expand to Toronto, Winnipeg and Kelowna. By May, it will be operating 76 flights weekly.
Lynx will fly with a fleet of new Boeing 737 aircraft and says it will aim to provide "great customer service." The company has firm orders and lease agreements in place for a total of 46 aircraft over the next seven years to meet anticipated demand.
