I like to think Vancouverites don't drive as much as alot of other people do in other places in North America. Â A two hour commute is not a regular thing here for most, and the thought of driving for 5 hours for a weekend trip seems like alot. Â People have told me tales of driving two hours in LA to get to a Whole Foods.
Amtrak now offers regular service to Washington and Oregon. Â I still think it takes the same amount of time but I'm sure it's alot more scenic and relaxing. Â Traveling across Canada via train is one of my dreams and this might be a bit of a taster for now....
I know this isn't portlandisawesome.com but it's a wonderful town and I'm happy it's going to be that much easier to get there from Vancouver...and to those across the border.... check us out!
