UBC Students Get Around With Evo Car Share

As a student, it is extremely useful to have a car share system that is easily accessible and lets me go where I need to, when I need to. We work, socialize, and have class all at different times throughout the day.

As a student, it is extremely useful to have a car share system that is easily accessible and lets me go where I need to, when I need to. We work, socialize, and have class all at different times throughout the day. Fortunately,  gives us the flexibility to get around affordably. The Prius Hybrid is environmentally friendly, and it uses a pay by the minute system. This means that you really only pay for what you use. A smart way to use Evo is to travel with friends. Splitting the minute rate is pretty ideal for the standard student budget.

Speaking of friends, my friend Lianne and I were planning a girl’s night for when we finished work one evening, and we decided to take an Evo car so that we could get around faster!rsz_evo_1_2First on the ladies night itinerary: Pick up Lianne.

rsz_1evo_2_2This was my first time driving a Prius, and I was impressed by how fun they are to rip around in.

rsz_evo_3_2Lianne seemed to think they were pretty comfortable too and she was ready to .

rsz_2evo_edit_1We drove around UBC for a while to enjoy the great views and the sunshine before we left campus to get some food. Getting around is surprisingly easy, especially on such a large campus.

I especially enjoy the freedom to alternate between transit and Evo when commuting to campus, or to work. I can check the if I think I’m going to miss my bus, or if I know I’ll be carrying a lot with me to school or to work. By using Evo, I can cut my commute time in half!

Each car is spacious, with enough room in the back for groceries, and it can comfortably seat up to four friends. When we’re not slammed with homework, it can be nice to get away on the weekends to hike, like. There is also a bike rack on top of each vehicle, so really your options are endless.

rsz_evo_edit_3 (1)While driving around campus, I found myself waving at other Evo cars on the road when they passed us. With the cool black and blue color scheme they were so easy to spot! I actually don’t know why I did this. I must have waved at least 5 times to different vehicles, and it reminded Lianne of motorcyclists and how they nod or wave at each other out of respect. Maybe I’ll start a trend with this.

rsz_evo_edit_5We were craving sushi, so we headed downtown to eat at Urban Sushi before we had to be at Stanley Park to see Hairspray the musical! The Evo app helped us find parking right away, and we ended our trip with the press of a button.

sushiFinally… FOOD.

HairsprayWe safely arrived at Stanley Park on time to see Hairspray at Theatre Under the Stars. The show was a success and we had a great time. We knew the majority of the words to each song, and I’m sure that was enjoyable for the people sitting beside us.

Evo Car Share is offering V.I.A. readers a , including free sign up and 30 minutes of drive time.
