More transit options are going to be available soon, serving a dozen communities across Metro Vancouver, as TransLink announces the addition of four new B-Line express bus routes that will all roll out by the end of next year.
B-Line routes offer buses at least every 10 minutes, if not more frequent, during peak times, and 15-minute or better frequency the rest of the day. These buses also operate for 18 hours of the day, and have limited stops, mimicking to some extent what a rail line might do.
These will be Metro Vancouver's four new B-Line routes:
- Fraser Highway (Surrey Central to Langley Centre)
- Main-Marine (Dundarave to Phibbs Exchange)
- 41st Avenue (Joyce-Collingwood Station to UBC)
- Lougheed Highway (Coquitlam Central Station to Haney Place)
TransLink said Tuesday they plan to launch customer surveys in all the service areas to help determine "stop locations, local route adjustments and possible changes to street infrastructure to improve speed and reliability."
To populate the routes, TransLink will add 58 articulated buses to their fleet for use on the new B-Lines. These new routes and buses are part of the 10-year transit plan for the region.
"We hope addition of four new B-Line routes with more amenities will make transit a realistic option for more people as we work to improve mobility and livability across Metro Vancouver," said TransLink CEO Kevin Desmond.
