The “Seattle sound” is known worldwide as a transformative rock music movement that first emerged in the mid-'80s. More notably referred to as grunge, this subgenre of alternative rock originated in the Pacific Northwest and retained popularity in American music into the mid-90s. The definitive Seattle sound was popularized by several Seattle-based bands, namely Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden.

Seattle has maintained a long-standing reputation for producing groundbreaking artists that have gone on to achieve global recognition, from legends like Jimi Hendrix and Heart, to modern musicians such as Brandi Carlile and Macklemore. Today, Seattle’s music scene remains eclectic and ever-changing, continuing the city’s legacy as an iconic hub for American music.

And this November, the will make its return for three weeks of concerts across downtown Seattle.

From Nov. 7 to 27, the third annual celebration of the city’s vibrant live music scene will showcase a wide range of local artists, from fan favourites rising talents, spanning across all music genres and all hailing from the Pacific Northwest region. In fact, all artists scheduled to perform at Cloudbreak are either Seattle-based or have ties to the Washington State area, guaranteeing a hyperlocal experience for concert-goers.
