was founded in 1945 by a group of neighbours who wanted to celebrate "Dominion Day"; this event continues today as one of the largest volunteer-driven events in Canada, welcoming over 100,000 attendees from across Metro 麻豆传媒映画every year.
73 years later, it鈥檚 still a community favourite. Here鈥檚 why鈥�
Food trucks, ice cream parlours and 1,200lbs of grilled Salmon
The main event! Every year, skilled volunteers grill over 1,200 pounds of mouth-watering salmon over open fire pits. The famous salmon BBQ sells out every year and plates are only $16 per person (prices subject to change). There will also be food trucks and vendors cooking up a storm throughout the day, not to mention a pie and ice cream parlour. Come early, because the day begins with a pancake breakfast at 6:30am.
A family-friendly Canada Day parade and celebration

The parade winds through historic Steveston village, and includes floats, marching bands, celebrities, politicians, community groups, mascots and much more. Then, the Festival is officially kicked off at the Main Stage Opening Ceremonies at noon with dignitaries, speeches, and the singing of O Canada.
A absolutely out-of-this-world vintage car show
Vrooom! Hosted by the Richmond Lions Club, the annual Car Show features up to 50 classic cars, custom rides and hot rods. Other on-site entertainment include the Japanese Cultural Show, Trade Show, Horticultural Show, the Children鈥檚 Festival, Youth Festival, Martial Arts Demonstrations and Artisan Gallery.

The Steveston Salmon Festival has come a long way since its beginnings as a July 1st 鈥淪ports Day鈥� that 聽was held as a fundraiser to build a playground in the Steveston Park in 1944. Thanks to the tireless efforts of hundreds of volunteers, the Richmond Agricultural and Industrial Society now produces what鈥檚 recognized as one of the largest Canada Day celebrations across the country.
